About the Role

As our first VP of Finance, reporting to the CFO, you will be at the helm of Mixbook's financial strategy, steering our growth to continue being both sustainable and profitable. This isn't just about overseeing finances. Through a team of accounting and finance direct reports, you'll be a transformative leader, modernizing our financial operations while being a strategic partner who influences key decisions and drives value across the entire organization. You will play a critical role in challenging conventional thinking, raising untapped questions, and positioning Mixbook as a leader in creativity and connection.
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy & Leadership: Work closely with the CFO and business partners to develop and execute financial strategies that align with Mixbook's growth and objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop high-performing teams, including finance and accounting teams based in the US and Moldova, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration while ensuring the team is equipped to meet our business needs.
  • Financial Foresight: Drive long-term planning, budgeting, and financial analysis including robust forecasting, scenario planning, and modeling to guide Mixbook's growth and strategic decisions.
  • Financial Oversight: Proactively manage cash flow, capital allocation, and working capital to support our continued profitable growth and financial stability while ensuring precise reporting and forecasting.
  • Business Partnering: Guide financial decisions related to product and marketing investments, pricing strategies, and go-to-market execution through collaboration with the executive team and key stakeholders.
  • Support Investor Relations: Prepare and present financial models, forecasts, and performance metrics to investors and the board.
What Success Looks Like
  • First 3 Months: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, understand Mixbook's financial and operational landscape, and begin optimizing financial processes and reporting.
  • First 6 Months: Evolve financial models and forecasting tools that improve decision-making and support strategic initiatives. Assess and develop the finance team structure.
  • First 12 Months: Drive measurable improvements in financial performance and operational efficiency, positioning Mixbook for continued growth.
Who You Are

  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of financial accounting, modeling, and analysis, particularly in DTC ecommerce and SaaS.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, drive change, and influence across all levels.
Why You Might Not Love This Role
  • Fast-Pace: If you prefer working in a highly structured, slow-moving environment, this may not be the right fit.
  • Hands-On: If you're uncomfortable with rapid change and being hands-on in driving strategy, this role might feel overwhelming.
  • Open Culture: At Mixbook, we value vulnerable, frequent feedback, and open, honest communication. If this isn't your style, you might find the culture challenging.
What We Offer
  • Compensation: $225,000 - $300,000, plus bonus opportunities. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and location.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive healthcare, 401k match, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, and more.
  • Growth: $2,000 per year for external learning and development, flexible schedules, and opportunities for advancement.

Location & Remote Work Details: US-based, remote position managing global teams, requiring some off-hours work (typically 6-9 AM PST twice weekly) to collaborate with our Moldova team. Quarterly domestic travel or trips to our Chișinău, Moldova offices may be required.
