Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert (SME) on internal controls, keeping abreast of changes that may affect the financial industry and the Bank.
  • Identify the audit universe for the Bank, complete the Audit Risk Assessment in conjunction with the Lines of Business and co-sourced Internal Audit Partners, and develop the annual audit plan using an appropriate risk-based methodology.
  • Coordinate with Third Party Risk Management the co-sourcing partner contracts and ensure accurate and appropriate Statements of Work.
  • Ensure internal audit work completed by out-sourced Internal Audit partners is completed within the parameters of the annual risk-based audit plan and the audit policy.
  • Coordinate with co-sourced Internal Audit partners to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion in accordance with the approved scope.
  • Perform quality reviews of audit work performed by co-sourced Internal Audit Partners to ensure workpapers are appropriately documented and within the approved scope of the audit.
  • Track and report on Audit issues to Management and the Audit Committee. Ensure that Action Plans are appropriate, monitor remediation of findings, ensure issue owners are aware of expected remediation dates and responsibilities, ensure that necessary validation testing is completed either internally or by a co-source partner, generate monthly reporting on findings status and exam progress.
  • Work with Senior Management and Leadership to develop and monitor financial budget for Internal Audit including review and approval of out-sourced audit partner invoices.
  • Implement the annual audit plan, as approved, including, as appropriate, any special tasks or projects requested by Executive Management and the Audit Committee.
  • Coordinate with other control and monitoring functions such as Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, external auditors, and regulators.
  • Establish audit methodologies and frameworks as well as any revisions to improve the Internal Audit function.
  • Maintain an Audit Committee responsibilities calendar and develop Board Audit Committee agendas in coordination with the Board Audit Committee Chairperson. Hold periodic update meetings with the quarterly Audit Chair as needed.
  • At least quarterly, present the status of the audit program to the Audit Committee including, but not limited to, audits in process, audit reports of completed audits, changes to the audit schedule, and status on Audit findings.
  • Document and update audit procedures as applicable to ensure testing covers all applicable Bank activity.
  • Remain current with changes to state and federal banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the Bank including keeping abreast of significant control issues, trends, and developments.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective use of audit resources as well as the hiring, training, and retention of internal audit staff.
  • Educate management concerning risks and internal controls as needed.

Working Conditions
  • This position is performed in a regular office work environment. Must be able to work independently from remote locations and within the office environment. The incumbent will be expected to be able to work Monday through Friday; occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Flexibility with work location and hours may be granted.

Travel
  • 0 to 10 percent.

Qualifications Summary

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Certificate in Internal Auditing (CIA) or similar designation preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum ten (7) years of Internal Audit experience with a financial institution and/or external audit firm.
  • Experience in a management role.
  • Experience leading and managing initiatives and managing associated change.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to communicate and work effectively with all departments and levels of management and the Board of Directors.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Proficient knowledge of internal audit processes and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking laws and Federal Reserve, OCC and FDIC rules and regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial/retail lending, deposit operations, products, and policies, including knowledge of bank operations, branch banking, and information technology.
  • Ability to research and apply banking regulations to various processes and applications and translate into control/testing documentation for affected areas of the bank.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, with a demonstrated ability to think critically.
  • Ability to integrate and balance priorities, work activities, and resources for the benefit of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong business performance management abilities- monitoring the progress of work against schedules, budgets, quality standards.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and adjust to change.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications and Core Banking platforms.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective teams that are committed to organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Detailed and task oriented.

Salary is determined based on experience, education, and skills relevant to this position. The projected salary range for this position is $120,000-160,000/annually.
